All the excitement is building, with the start of the 2008/2009 sailing season at Humpybong yacht club. This year we hope to have a fun filled, action packed season for all our old members and our new. If you would like to join the club, then please contact us on 38832170 or you can e-mail us at humpybongyachtclub@yahoo.com.au . The season kicks off on this Saturday 6th September with our open day. This day is devoted to the public in the area to see what sailing is all about. We will have the club boats on the water for people to try and see if they would like to learn to sail. We would also encourage all our learn to sailors from last season to come along and bring their boat, if they have one, or use one of the club boats for a fun thrilled Day. We will have a barbecue sizzling sausages throughout the lunch period. This will be free. If you know anyone who would like to join in then please let them know about the day. It commences around 10 a.m. and will finish around 3 p.m. on Saturday sixth of September.
This season the club is supported by: Professionals Real Estate Woody Point, Brisbane catamaran Centre, Morton Bay Marine Suppliers, Bias Boating Warehouse, North Sails Brisbane, 99.7 FM Local Radio Station, Ian Gough Photography, Redcliffe RSL, Moreton Bay Regional Council. The Gambling Community Benefits Fund Queensland Government. Humpybong yacht club would like to thank our supporters and would ask you to support each and every one of them, as without them, the club would be a little harder to operate.
Racing will commence on Sunday the seventh of September, that is, this Sunday, with the first race commencing around 11 a.m. you are all invited whether novice or professional you can participate in racing at Humpybong Yacht Club. The Second Sunday of each month sees our Club Championships which is proudly sponsored by Moreton Bay Marine Supplies And the Brisbane Catamaran Centre. The Diggers Memorial, a club Regatta run over three separate Sundays, two races 28 September, 2 races 26th of October, two races the 16th of November. This regatta is held in the memory of five diggers who did not return from World War II. Is diggers were members and founders of our club.
A regatta well worth doing. On the 20th and 21st of September Humpybong Yacht Club Will Host the Bias Boating Warehouse Humpybash. This event is shaping up to be a beauty, with the A Class World Titles is being held at the Belmont 16 footer skiff club on the shores of Lake Macquarie in Newcastle at Christmas time, we should see a turn out of many AClass, as this will be a fantastic training weekend. We also hope to see many juniors on the water for the weekend. We should also see the likes of 125's, Mirrors, lasers,Skiffs all, big ferocious Formula 18's and hopefully many other classes. On the Saturday evening club will host a barbecue for all to attend this will cost $12 for adults and children under 12 will eat for free with a paying adult. Don't forget you will be able to camp at the club free of charge.
So make it a weekend for you and the family to enjoy. Great sailing, great times, great friends what more could you ask for a weekend out.
December and February sees our Professionals Real Estate Summer Series, series in the past has been a success and should be this season once again with 15 races gazetted in what could be described sometimes as our windiest part of the season it should make for good entertainment.
Throughout the season Humpybong yacht club will host some of the most spectacular sailing to be seen on the waters of Bramble Bay with the Mirrors, holding their Head of the Bay regatta on the 26th of October and also Queensland Mirror State Titles to be held on the 15th and 16th of November. This will be a colourful display of skillful sailing from both young and old sailors. Also this season club will host the formula 18 National Titles at a time yet to be agreed. These are big fast powerful boats and will be a spectacular sight to be seen. Remember viewing of Bramble Bay is best done along the shores of Clontarf through to Woody point. And each and every weekend you should see some sort of sailing events happening. Now that I've wet your appetite for the want to go sailing then I suggest, if you do not own a boat, go out and buy one, , if you do own a boat, Then Head-On down to Humpybong Yacht Club and give it ago, you never know you may enjoy it!!!!
For our members now and the past come on down and enjoy this weekend and many more to come.
See you all there. Yours in sailing,Russ McDonald.President Humpybong Yacht Club.PH : Club 38882170

Don't forget this weekend the 20th and 21st of September will see Humpybong Yacht Club host the long-awaited, best regatta must of the season. The Bias Boating Warehouse Humpybash. Bias Boating Warehouse has put up $500 in gift vouchers as prizes for this regatta. We expect to see around 40 to 60 boats, with some arriving from as far away as Yeppoon and we should have a mixture of classes with, Arrows, Corsairs, Lasers, 125, A class, F-18, Mirrors, Nacra, MG'S, Minnows, and Sabot's. I am told we will even see a 16 and 18 foot skiff on the water. So the spectacle on the waters of Bramble Bay should be spectacular viewing from all the Clontarf foreshore. The club intends to run two courses with a senior course and a junior course which will be set close to the shore to allow the Mums and Dads to keep their pride and and Joy's insight. Don't forget, Saturday evening the club barbecue will sizzle with mouth-watering steaks and sausages. The cost, $12 for adults and children under 12 will eat for free with a paying adult. Don't forget camping is free of the club for the weekend, so come on down, bring your boat, bring the family and enjoy a great weekend of sailing at the Humpybong Yacht Club, Woody Point on the beautiful Redcliffe Peninsular.
